Follow the instructions in the Owner Manual to bleed the fuel system. Procedures vary depending on the specific machine so if you know how to bleed the system on some other diesel it may not translate to the correct procedure for yours.

Someone with that specific tractor or a tech who knows the procedure for that specific tractor may weigh in with the correct procedure. Otherwise it’s look up the procedure in the OM (or WSM if you have it).

Short answer, you need to get the air out of the fuel system. As NCL said, the procedure can vary depending on the fuel system. On an L3700, it may be as simple as loosening the nut retaining the fuel line on an injector, and cranking it over until fuel flows. Tighten the nut and try to start it. In the case of simple fuel systems, that can be all that it takes (I've performed it more than once).

Thanks. I did crack the valve and it hasn't worked yet. It does say 'fill the fuel tank' but I only put in about 1.5 gallons. I don't know yet if it really needs to be 'filled'. Maybe it needs the head pressure of a full tank. I'll add more fuel shortly and try it again.
