I have a Kubota L3540 HST and I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
Over the last few months I’ve noticed the reverse pedal becoming increasingly jerky. Instead of backing up smoothly, the tractor will surge as though the pedal is being repeatedly pressed and released, even though I’m holding steady pressure on it. It has made backing up accurately, especially when hooking up implements, pretty frustrating.
More recently, the tractor has started intermittently sticking in reverse. I’ll release the reverse pedal and it will continue backing up. In some cases it will even continue backing up when I start pressing the forward pedal. The only way to stop it is to depress the clutch.
As part of my troubleshooting, I removed the cover below the HST pedal and accessed the two solenoids. I swapped the electrical connectors between the two solenoids as a test. After doing that, the tractor would intermittently stick in both forward and reverse. Sometimes it would continue moving forward, other times it would continue moving in reverse. I then put the connectors back in their original positions and the tractor returned to its original symptom of intermittently sticking in reverse only.
