I recently bought a older L3300 and had been using it for a few weeks then put it in the shop to repack the lift cylinders that were leaking and replace hoses on loader. After topping off the fluid and starting it to test loader / check for leaks the steering is locked up. I tried cracking a line on the steering valve under the column and have fluid to the valve but wheel wont turn. I also replaced seals on steering cylinder but that was after noticing steering wouldn't turn. Any ideas on what could be the issue? It worked fine before working on loader.

The only WSM I can find for a L3300 is a manual from Scotland and it has two hydraulic pumps (one for power steering) which i do not think your tractor has.

Providing more details on your specific tractor is always helpful. For example, type of transmission, cab or not...........

Likely you have a hose in the wrong place since the problems all arose after you replaced loader hoses.

Typically your tractor will have a priority flow control valve whose sole job is to ensure the power steering system receives hydraulic power regardless of the demands of other hydraulic users.

How many hoses are on your loader valve...... 6 or 7?

Can you take photos? You cannot post them until you have 5 posts but there are ways to work around this such as having you email them to me but lets not get to that point yet.

Clean the valve body of the loader and then look for letters cast into the valve body.

The hoses you replaced, try and identify which ones you replaced.

I'll have to look at it Tomorrow but it's a gst glide shift transmission no cab 4wd with la480 loader. So I didn't replace hoses to loader valve just the 8 hoses on lift and curl cylinders which all hook up to hard lines on front of loader. I believe they are all in proper position but I have pictures from before so I can double check. I'll have to see how many hoses it has to valve. Would having air in the system cause this kind of problem? Thanks for your help

The system should bleed itself with exercise

I wasn't able to mess with it today but loader valve does have 7 hoses. And I was able to verify the hoses I replaced on the front of loader are in correct location based on pictures I took beforehand.

Well I figured it out and it turns out it had nothing to do with the hydraulics. I was in the process of removing the steering box and found the steering shaft inside the column was seized I guess from pressure washing tractor before I put in shop. After fixing that issue everything works fine. Thanks for the help

Thanks for the update. It helps us all learn!

Sounds like a lesson for anyone with a pressure washer.

Interesting because the steering column bushings on mine are hard plastic. I replaced them last spring.

Glad it worked out though.
