Hi guys,
Would you use a 2-post lift to raise the front of a 30hp L-series? I'm thinking to wrap a pair of 2"x10' tow straps rated at 6600lbs vs lifting straps to do the job. This, because tow straps don't stretch whilst lifting straps may stretch up to 30%.

Specifically, these tow straps. My alternative are these lifting straps (if I'm advised to use them instead of tow straps). For the lifting straps, however, I'll need to purchase shackles and hooks as well (no, I don't mind the added expense). Thoughts?

Short story: need to R&R three brand new blades installed on a RC72-29A mower deck and don't want to remove the mower deck to do the job.

Long story: Kubota listed 70000-25007 as suitable replacements for the 76550-34334.

Unfortunately, after I reinstalled the mower deck (because silly me never for a moment thought to trust-but-verify), whilst twisting the input shaft to mate with the mid-mount PTO, I discovered these blades are a little bit too long (by 5mm) and thus, they foul on the mower deck, itself! Fortunately, I never engaged the PTO and was twisting by hand!

So it's kind of like the old Benson &Hedges television commercial where the refrain was 'a silly millimeter longer' and while this is the specification of the 76550-34334 blades . . .

. . . what turned out is the suggested blades are 5mm too long - approximately 1/4".

Unfortunately, per the parts guy, both 70000-25022 and 70000-25027 are mulching blades (seems strange, but what do I know?), so then I'm left buying 70050-94609, which are 76.5mm wide vs 64mm wide, but at 618mm should fit length-wise.

So that's the background, but because removing/replacing this mower deck is a royal pain in the hind end (even though I have the convenience of doing the job using a fork lift), I'm seeking an easier way. So when a pal suggested slinging the front axle with the 2-post lift, instead, I thought, 'Hmmm, why not?' Hence here i am asking you guys.

Basically, I'm thinking raise it enough to let me make the long arm beneath the deck with a compact Milwaukee impact. Since that's what I used to install them, they should come off with the same tool, right? If not, I have a full size impact (if push comes to shove).

Question is; is this a good idea?

Note; I figure to use two of these 10' straps, one on each side, wrapped (once, maybe twice around the axle, to take up slack) and attached to the shorter of the two lift arms (figuring to center the Kubota axle between the posts).

Once I get jack stands positioned beneath it (before risking myself) then I'll do the job. Shouldn't take much more than 10 minutes all told, this way. And FWIW, when chatting with my local Kubota parts guy, I mentioned my plan and he said this is how they do it in their shop, also.

Anyway, thoughts welcome. Especially from someone who has actually done this because I can BS and theorize with the best of them!

Never had a 2 post lift. I did have a tractor with a belly mower. To R&R blades on it I used a pair of car ramps. My guess would be that the lift should work. If I were using one I'd swing the arms so they'd point more or less toward each other. Probably wouldn't side-load the posts, but who knows? I'd also make sure the tractor can roll freely so you're not dragging it on the concrete as it goes up.

I did buy a set of (5) blades for the 90" Caroni that were just a tad too long. These hit each other but not the deck. Simply ground them shorter, balanced them and that was that. Blades are measured from the sharp tip on one end to the sharp tip on the other (not straight overall length).

It's not wise to use a 2 post lift on something that your not lifting all of it straight up.
In just lifting the front, the posts are being pulled in the direction of the tractor, not good!

The short answer is yes you can, but not advisable.
I use my 2-post to R&R my deck blades, however, I remove the deck from the machine and chain it to all 4 lift arms to do so. I realize it's a pain, but I'm not taking the chance........
