I've got a L2900 gst. Yesterday while using it, the engine died suddenly. It started right up again, but now the top row of lights on the dash don't light, including the glow plug light and it won't shut off with the key...I now have to pull out the stop switch. It starts fine and the head lights work, but nothing on the dash. Where do I begin.
thanks

all fuses check ok. I took the dash panel off and was checking for loose connections, the dash lights and glow plug indicator started to work again. Put the dash back on, and its not working again....so this is either a short, a loose connection, a bad wire, or a faulty relay. Nothing is obvious and I'm not sure how to test. Before I bought this, the glow plug didn't work and the prior owner had a Kubota dealer replace the glow plug and a relay. Any help on diagnosing what's going on would be much appreciated.

Typically a short ends up blowing a fuse, so you are probably looking for a loose connection or a bad crimp. Pull the dash off again and tug and push at every wire. Somewhere at the end of the dash string there has to be a ground wire or connection. That could also be the culprit...

Time for troubleshooting the wiring.

When dash apart pull wiggle twist push shake all connections. Remember those wires are potentially 'hot', probably won't hurt you but will surprise the heck out of you with a sudden arc to ground if you jerk something loose and it hits metal. Wear safety glasses without fail.

Every once in a while during this process and / or as you think necessary remember to continually recheck the fuse panel. One might blow without your noticing and leave you chasing ghosts that don't make sense.

Start at replaced glow plug controller; it's wiring may feed to some of dash lights. Confirm controller and other circuits have good grounds. A loose mounting screw or jumper wire to ground might cause your reported problems.

Otherwise it's just time consuming troubleshooting with a 12-vdc test light and/or multimeter. Personal preference for this type work is to use an analog (needle) type meter so you can see needle twitches.

Please post back and advise how resolved so we may all learn.

Speaking with 20+ years as an automotive electrical specialist, my first thought is the ground since you indicated multiple issues at once. Test this theory by running a 10g ground wire from the battery and a known good ground point in the dash area. Put it back together and operate it. If it works. Time to look for that faulty ground circuit.
