I recently acquired an old L295 with a L2773 front loader on it. It runs great but the valve leaks. I was interested in replacing this valve with a single joystick type but I know next to nothing about Hydraulics.

Per the manual and what I've found online here and other places I believe my flow is 5.5 GPM and should have a system pressure of 2,000 PSI.

Is this upgrade easily doable? Does anyone have a suggestion on what valve I should get. I was looking at one on Northern Tool - 2-Spool rated for 10 GPM and 4500 PSI

That said I open to suggestions from you guys that have been around a while if I would be better off taking it down to my local hydraulic repair shop and getting it rebuilt (if possible).

Thank you.

P.S. Yes this is my first post and I did try searching for L2773 Loader and did not come up with much here. That said I'm sure there is some other information on other posts that may be relevant when just talking valves generically but I'm not dangerous enough tell what applies and what does not.

Factors to consider

Does your valve have 6 or 7 hoses connected to it? 7 means your valve has and is using a Power Beyond feature to feed another circuit downstream of the loader such as the 3 pt hitch.

Many new valves have provision for Power Beyond but you must order a special sleeve or plug to activate this feature.

Try to find a valve with flow rating close to the flow of your tractor. This is a situation where bigger is not better. Opt for too large a valve and you loose fine control over your loader.

Many tractor owners like a FLOAT feature for their loader arms. This feature allows the loader to follow the ground (helpful when leveling while backing up) The loader arms can move up and down rather than being locked in position.

REGEN is another feature that small tractors benefit from. This improves the bucket dumping performance for tractors with low hydraulic flows.

This youtube video will help you understand REGEN which is built into a loader valve.

I have found CROSS MANUFACTURING to provide excellent advice over the phone.

Even if you do not decide to buy one of their products you will be much wiser after the call.

The proper valve will give you years of effortless operation while the wrong one will frustrate you every time you use it.

@Dave_Eng Thanks for the response this was helpful. It does in fact have 7 and I do have a 3 point hitch with hydraulics. I'll check out the video and the website as well. Thanks again.
