I am a newbie looking to but his first tractor
Next door neighbor has a L2550 for sale with 2300 hr. Its looks to be in reasonable shape but he does not know the year. The serial number I found on the left frame member is as follows L2550 10181. Looked on line at tractor data.com but could not find a match. Is this the right number or do I need the engine number?

He wants $2500 USD only implements are a new landscape rake and a finishing mower which needs work major . Doe this sound about right as to price

It doesnt sound like a bad price tag, but on the other hand there is a TON of hours of operation on the tractor. Check here at Tractor House and get a reference idea on a few other L2550's for sale.

Considering the location (no shipping) I'd say that's a very reasonable deal. I would not be scared of those hours if you think the guy has been giving it reasonable care / maint....I've seen Kubota engines in other equipemnt go far beyond 5K hrs in industrial / construction use. That one's about the same age / hrs for the the "high milage" L2350 I bought as my first real tractor -- and I had to pay to haul it home.
