L2550 - decent tractor?

Got a chance to purchase a '86 L2550 from friends that are moving to AZ. It has a bucket loader, rear finish mower. Tractor has been well maintained, kept inside. I don't really need it since the horses are gone, but would be handy to have for mowing the pasture that is now part of the lawn, moving firewood/dirt/etc.

Any issues that I should be aware of?

Not sure on the 2550. But dad has an l2250 that he bought in 1990. Tractor has been old faithful. I would assume that they are similar platforms. Tractor kept surprising us with what it would do and handle

I recently bought a 1986 L2550 DT. It had fairly low hours, but I had to replace seals in the front axles. I understand that this is fairly common when they have a loader. It cost a couple of hundred bucks for parts and took a weekend. I wasn't trying to do it quickly. If yours is not 4WD then it is a non-issue. DT is the 4WD.
It's a great tractor, but my first diesel.

I have a B6000 and love it,but being older and 1st generation, there is not much out there as far as implements go. Don't get me wrong, it has been a great tractor for the 20+ years I have had it, but limited to plowing snow/dirt and mowing the lawn. If I get the L2550, the B6000 will probably be in search of a new home. I'm running out of storage space.

I am going to thin my heard as well. I have 2 Ford 641's a Massey 65 and an old Case VA. The youngest is 1961
The boss says that 2 of them have to go. I don't understand - there's still room in the barn if I re-arrange a bit.

I am super excited to say that I have a 3 point snow blower on the way. My other tractors aren't geared low enough to go through the deep stuff. The L2550 will be perfect for it.

I have room if I re-arrange also, but if it can be used by someone else, rather than just sit most of the time, that would be better.

Just found out it has a york rake with it also, so that is a plus!!!

Well, the L came home on Saturday. Put it to work moving some Item 4 for base for box storage container.
Boy it sure is nice having the loader and not having to shovel! I know...you guys want pictures.

Next is to get the B6000 spruced up and put up for sale.

I have an L2250 I bought new in 1985 and it's been a wonderful tractor. Granted, it doesn't lead a hard life but it's never let me down once. I'm certain the L2550 is every bit as good, so no worries. However, I will say this.... I do need a set of rear rims due to the old calcium chloride effect, but I guess after 30 years I can't complain.
