Probably a dumb question(new Kubota owner) but here goes. I just noticed some blackish residue? on the loader arms on the exhaust side of the tractor. This residue will wipe off somewhat and comes off pretty easily with some soap and water. Tractor has about 30 hours and since it has no DPF it does smoke when starting as expected. Noticed it on a day I started it in the morning when the temp was below 30 although it probably was there and I hadn't noticed it before. Although it did smoke more that day, due to the cold temp, for a brief period of time. I assume this is normal? Not a big deal just a curiosity. Thanks for your time.

Ted, it's entirely normal for a diesel engine. If it bothers you too much you'll need to figure a way to divert the exhaust to clear your loader. I think there are a few threads on the subject.

Thank you for the replies. Yes, I did use the glow plugs. It doesn't really bother me . We love the tractor. Just a curiosity. We have other tractors which are gas so something new. Thanks

Do you notice your L2501 still smoking? I have about 100 hours on my L2501 and notice a faint smoking when ruining espically at 2000-2200RPM. I notice the smoke more in lower light situations either in the morning, late afternoon or especially if I’m ruining it at night and have the headlights turned on. Anyone else noticed this from their L2501?

On my b2301 i used long radius EMT 1 1/4" 90, and using a straight portion and part of the curving part fab a extension which redirects exhaust flow. the curved section fit so well that i could just drive it on with a rubber mallet and no clamp is needed so far, a nice snug fit!
