I was stuck and screwed up big time. To make a long story short and less embarrassing I cracked the main clutch bell housing badly. So the first move I guess is to remove the backhoe. What is next step? A buddy told me to strap the back end to the front to prevent further damage before I move it. Given it is a 1982 model parts may be an issue. Any advice will help. Thanks.

I'd strap it like your buddy mentioned!

Get it to the shop (yours) or garage and get it welded back together.

I just had a L295 apart for a year. Didn't have an issue like yours, but I changed the clutch/pressure plate/TO bearing and had flywheel resurfaced.

I know there is a used L245 up in Burlington, WA for $4,500 (asking...probably go lower).

Wow! Sorry to hear that. Does your backhoe have a subframe, or 3 pt mount? Can you show pictures of the damage and/or explain what you were doing that resulted in the break? I have the same tractor and would selfishly like to learn from your accident instead of breaking mine.

Thanks for your help. It snowed last night, today I will begin setting up to move it.

3 point mount. I think my mistake was I used the stabilizer to lift the back tire out of the hole but did not put the other one down. I then put some pressure on the loader bucket so I could put some material under the front tire. It cracked like a dry twig. With only one stabilizer down the tractor had some twisting forces on it. The tractor has low hours but there was goop on the housing at the seal area and I thought the seal was leaking but given how easily it cracked I am now guessing the crack may have already been there. I have put about 40 hours on it since I bought it. I have been looking into a subframe for this backhoe(Hanmey) but could not locate one.
