Hi Guys,
My L245 water pump died on me and doesn't want to come off the engine. I thought it was mounted with bolts (parts list calls them bolts) but they seem to be studs. I removed the four nuts but the pump won't budge. Are these in fact studs? and are they at all removable? I would really appreciate any advice on how to remove this pump. It is the p/n 15321-73032 4 bolts/studs only for mounting.

Thanks a bunch,
chuck M.

The water pump is also a front engine cover that has multiple bolts and nuts holding it to the engine

there may be about ten or eLeven fasteners according to the illustration on Kubota website

Thanks for your quick and accurate reply! Because of so much grease and stuff on the front of the engine I did not even see the cover extension and was convinced I had the 73032 pump. Sure glad I haven't ordered the new pump yet! I am now in the process of degreasing the front cover to access the fasteners. Will psot results when pump is off.
Thanks again.

Ok please look at whitetiger’s post above.

I didn’t notice that the smaller inset picture was a different pump style.

Hopefully you will be able to see which pump fits on your tractor by serial number.
Perhaps cleaning it up will also help with your decision

The pump is definitely a 15341-73030. I have removed all 16 fasteners (M10 &M12 bolts and nuts on studs). The pump still does not want to come off. I really do not want to damage the engine block or studs (pump is gone so cannot hurt it anymore) so would welcome any advice on how to break the pump loose.
Thanks,
Chuck M.

See this advertisement for the pump and gasket. There are more than 16 holes in the gasket and while they may be for location pins, i would recommend you look carefully at all of these spots.

I think you still have a hidden fastener to find!

You may have to start trying to separate the water pump from the tractor by using a thin putty knife to get between them. You might also try driving the pump body away from the block with a dead blow hammer. But only after you are 110% sure that you have removed all the fasteners.

I have identified 2 locator pins but I count 19 holes in the gasket so I am short 1 fastener or 1 more locator pin. Will check again tomorrow with a better light. Like the use of a putty knife. Was thinking screwdriver but putty knife seems safer.

,Pump is off! Found one additional locator pin (3 total), however only one pin was actually in place. Used putty knife to separate pump from block. Worked great, started at top and worked down right side - that broke the seal and than it pulled off easily.

Thanks for all your help!

Glad you got it off.

I can also recommend that you clean the block surface much better than you would like to before you start back together.

Will do! Most of the old gasket was stuck to the pump face but I will clean up the block face well.
