L245dt front axle moving

Hello,
I was looking at an L245dt and I noticed that the front axle assembly moves forward and aft. As the steering wheel is turned. Also the current owners say the front wheel assist doesn’t work.
Can anyone give me an insight as the cause of this. I was looking to buy this tractor.

I don't know the cause, but I do know I wouldn't be entertaining any thought of buying that tractor.

Me neither, but if the price was right and a person had the ability to fix it himself....maybe.

Look at the online Messicks parts catalog and see if the bolt-ups are tight and the front axle support bracket is properly assembled and not cracked or broken:

King pin bearings are shot. Insight? After 40 years stuff like bearings and seals fail. Keeping old equipment running can require an investment of your time and money in a declining value asset.
