HI, I have an l245dt and I believe the brakes are in need of replacing. They do hold but make a grinding sound when I step on them. My question is they hard to replace? And are the parts still available.?

Nawh not hard at all. They are an automotive style brake shoe and apply in the same fashion as a vehicle would. Parts should not be hard to come by either. There's still plenty of L245's out and about.

If you have dry brakes like the pic here with the can around them, then they are like mine on my L175. The can has to be removed to get access to the drum then it comes off and the shoes are easily removed.

I took my old shoes to ATlanta Safety Brake here in Georgia and they relined them for me with a newer harder material. Now it takes much less pedal pressure to apply and they feel like power brakes. They turned out great.

You can even find those brake shoes on ebay, or is that fleabay. :D :D :D

Your 245 should have wet disc brakes. They are under the roundish cover in front of and above the rear axle. One on each side of the transmission.
