Went to start the tractor and as soon as it fired up I noticed (fortunately) a stream of oil sprewing out of the right side of the tractor. Shut it down and it looks like a plug blew? Is this common on this tractor? whats the best way to install a new one, with a hammer?
Tractor has 650 hours on it.

Blowing oil out, like shooting it out under pressure, or just a leak down the side?

Pic would be great :)

It looked like it was under pressure. The hole is not threaded. Here is a pic. I am thinking it is similiar to one of the plugs above and below the hole.

That looks like just a plug blew out - nothing significant :)

Might be a opportunity to tap it and run an oil pressure gauge from it?

Either way, if it was me, I would cap or plug it and call it good. (actually, I would do the pressure gauge thing, but that's just me) :D

Here's a couple side views of a 295 motor I worked on recently.

Mine did the exact same thing.I put a wooden dowel in temporarily, but would like to find an expanding type plug or the OEM plug if there was one. This must be a common occurance with this engine.Anybody have any info? Thanks
