I bought an L235 4WD a year ago, but my old L175 2WD seemed to have more power. I mostly mow with my tractors and have been disappointed that the 19HP 235 struggles where the old 15HP 175 chugged right through the tall grass. (I'm using a 4' Bush hog with sharp blades) Both tractors are well maintained, start, run well and have no mechanical issues.

I'm thinking the extra weight and gear drag makes a big difference. Even when taking less of a bite, while mowing...especially when going uphill, the engine in the L235 struggles.

Does anyone have a suggestion to give me a little more power? (Short of installing a Hemi?)

Most of the time when a diesel lacks power it's a fuel or compression issue.

I would say pulling the Injectors, doing a compression test and sending the injectors to be tested and rebuilt would be my choices. ;)
