Just bought a hydraulic filter and I came across the fluid requirements for the hyd oil/transmission. I did not realize it requires SAE 80 Gear oil or the UDT fluid. I have just been using regular hydraulic oil since I've owned the tractor. (2 years/ ~100 hours). Should I be concerned or do others just run regular hyd oil? Ive never changed the fluid but always top it off every once in a while. I've probably put close to 5 gallons in it throughout my time owning it.

Do not use "regular hydraulic oil".

You need a "universal tractor transmission fluid" Lots of brands to choose from in addition to Kubota UDT.

On a tractor as simple and as old as yours, you haven't done any damage, but like @TheOldHokie said you would be better off using a UDT fluid.

If you guys don't think that I will cause any significant damage I probably won't change the fluid and continue to run hyd oil. The thing is I have multiple implements that are full of hydraulic oil that I share with my fathers tractor who also runs hyd oil in his tractors transmission so it wouldn't be so simple to switch over

If its plain hydraulic oil change it NOW. Hydraulic oil lacks the additives needed for transmission and final drive wear protection.

Drain and refill with the proper stuff. Don’t cheat yourself on the risk of damaging things. I switched mine to the gear oil from the Super UDT2 because the UDT stuff leaks out the seals more easily than the thicker gear oil as the tractor gets older
