L210 injector pump removal

I need to remove the injection pump on my L210. I removed the top cover. removed the cotter pin and washer and lifted the sliding control off of the control rack. At this point, the whole pump should slide out, but that slider doesn't seem to want to lift out of the way so the pump can come out. also, I understand their may be shims between the pump and housing. should the pump slide out easily? I don't want to damage the shims if

they are there by tapping a wedge between the pump and the Block.

Tap on it here gently (block of wood or resin hammer) to pop it off.
Avoid using a wedge of any kind.
