I have an L200 that cranks but won't start, does anyone know if it has a fuel cut off solenoid, it is getting fuel, I tried new fuel and filter, and bled lines. Previous owner said it had gradually been getting harder to start then finally not at all. it is a 2 cylinder 1972 diesel. any suggestions would be appreciated

How do you turn it off? If as I would expect its a cable then no shutoff solenoid.

First suspect for hard starting would be failing glow plugs.

Assuming it has a decompression knob then you may need to be sure it is closing properly. At the front of the valve cover you should see a lever that should have a cable running to it. That lever gets pulled over by the cable using a knob on the dash. Make sure it is retuning all the way by pushing it towards the left (away from the injector pump on my tractor) and then release it. See if you can move it further to the right to close it up. If you can move it by hand then you probably need to spray it with some penetrating oil where it rotates and work it back and forth a few times.

Please tell us the starting procedure you use and we may be able to provide some suggestions for improvements.

Does the starter spin the engine at a good speed? What is the ambient temperature?
