I was curious about the statement about the use of anti-freeze so read through the owner's manual for the L185 (uses the thermal circulation system - no water pump). It allows the use of anti-freeze but IMPLIES that it should only be used in the winter and mentions that the engine will run hotter with anti-freeze. So I guess I will be draining the anti-freeze and replacing it with water only until the winter. As a minimum I will reduce the ratio of anti-freeze to water...

I have the same problem. Just bought the tractor and it wont start. I filled radiator with water and about 2 hours later it was in oil pan, I took the head off no water on pistons they were dry and the gasket didn't look bad.
