L175 Transmission Reverse Gear/Input shaft question

Split the tractor and changed the clutch. Not too bad a job. Got it all back together and fired it up only to find the famed Reverse Gear problem! So I pulled the reverse gear from the top without splitting the transmission front and back.

Question- The gears on the input shaft look a lot like the revers gear stripped on the edges! Is that typical with the reverse gear problem? Is it essential to change the input shaft as well?

That will surly require the transmission removal.

@PYC Tractor , did you ever find an answer to this? I already have my tractor split to swap motors and upon looking in through the shifters see that my input shaft gears are mashed up too.

That was what I found when I had to replace my reverse gear on my L 1500, the input shaft was also chewed up, replaced both as a set.
