Just replaced the leaky radiator for a monastery's L175. Everything went well, except I didn't order a new drain petcock and when the old (original) petcock was unscrewed, whatever was there to seal to prevent leaks (washer? gasket?) had disintegrated into basically unrecognizable rubbery shapeless tiny pieces.

After rummaging around, jury-rigged a couple of harder rubber/acrylic? (not nylon) washers and it didn't leak when engine was started and ran for a bit, but I don't know how well the washer material will hold up as the coolant gets hotter.

I can order a replacement petcock, but hate to do it, because the original is still in great shape. But I don't know what type of washer thingie to use (can you tell I'm not a real mechanic?). Shop manual/parts exploded diagrams were no help. Can anyone tell me what to use and if a particular shape is required?
