Okay - so I rebuilt the snowblower gearbox and the reduction box. I know the type of oil to use, but how much?

On the gearbox there is one plug. No other holes. Do I fill it with it in the horizontal position - so about half full? Orient is up/down and fill the whole thing?

The reduction box does have a lower and upper plug, but how much oil to add? The manual says to check the levels, but it doesn’t tell you how much to put in when it’s empty.

Thanks for your time.

Always check and fill gearbox oil in the normal operating position unless manufacture states otherwise. The two plug box has a fill and drain. Usually one is above the other. Fill until oil just starts to run out of the upper one. If the single plug is on the side then fill the same as the two plug box. If on the bottom you will need a fill amount or position to fill. Thanks, Jeff. That makes sense, but I didn't want to overfill and later find out that's the reason my blower blew up.

Thanks again!
