When running, the temperature gauge is running hot (off the scale) even though the engine isn’t and the fuel gauge is reading wrong too. We have fitted a new sensor and also had the dashboard checked and they have said the dashboard is not faulty however the issue remains. Please can anybody offer advice?

Typically when a "gauge" reads to the extreme......the system has been grounded.

In a fuel gauge (empty) - the internal electrical resistance is high, thus the gauge read low or not much movement.

When the tank is complete full - the gauge movement is via the sensor connector to a low resistance thus current flows making the meter move to the extreme reading.

A quick way to see if a gauge is working, is to bypass the variable resistance, and ground the meter - should peg "full" or "hot"

I would check the "grounding" cable on those - since both are effected - I would trace all the way back to battery.;)
