I changed all the trans fluids and filter in my zd28. Mower. Also cleaned the strainer, now i have no movement at all. No steering. And the pto for the blades wont engage. There is no resistance in the steering as or the pto lever. What could cause this?

I'll start the responses by saying I don't know your model machine...

...but it sounds like your hydraulic system is air-locked.

Did you preload the filter with fluid before installing?

Are you sure the correct amount of the correct fluid was added back into the system?

Is there fluid evident in the hydraulic overflow reservoir?

Is your PTO a manual engagement type or does it use an electric clutch---the problems may be unrelated to the hydraulics.

If you find the hydraulic reservoir empty I'd keep adding the correct fluid to see if you can work the apparent air bubble(s) out of the system. Run the engine and work all the controls. Keep track of fluid volume compared to the amount already added and the 'correct quantity' from the Owner's Manual.

I've changed the dual hydraulc filters on our big non-K ZTR multiple times and never experienced what you describe.

Please post back with your experiences so we may all learn. I'm curious.

You have an airlock. Try loosening the filter till you get oil dripping from the gasket. Re-tighten and try again.
