hello, any way I could bother you with a simple question?
I have a 2008 kubota x900 vht. when I have the rear tires off the ground, the drivers side wheel spins free, the passenger side takes a tremendous amount to get it to move. while jacked up, you have to get it to around 8mph to get the tire to barely spin. I have checked the brakes, axle and wheel bearing. when you are driving and let off the throttle, it comes to stop like you scammed on the brakes.
I have called several dealers and they all say just bring it in. I just need to know if this is how these transmission work or if it has a problem.

Looking at the layout of it all it really sounds like you have a problem if you can't get the one side to spin easily.

HST's will "brake" when you let off the HST pedal, could be a dampener issue there making it engage to quickly.
