Kubota T1760 with Kawasaki 17hp Engine

Hello all, I had some issues with an aftermarket carb that I put on, combined with dirt in the fuel tank, so I figured hey, why not replace the line, filter, pump, and get it all good as new! I took upon myself to do just that, and now after putting it all back together, the good news is she runs. The bad news is, I have two problems. I think the govenor/throttle setup is off somehow, there is a spring that dropped and I'm not sure where it goes, but even when I push the throttle the whole way up, it just idles. It's moving the throttle/choke assembly in the front, but the back part, that actually controls the butterfly that regulates the air/fuel going to the machine, and is hooked to the governor doesn't seem to pull over.

The second issue is it's shooting gas, it seems out of the top of the carb, I'm hoping that's just a stuck float, I'll look at that later. So, I was hoping one of you kind gents has this model and might actually have a photo of your throttle and governor setup so I could see where the big spring that dropped out of mine goes

watch out for the aftermarket carbs....they are "universal". The pump on the 1760 puts out some pressure, typically around 4-5 psi. Most carburetors are designed to be used with the little pulse pumps-vacuum operated--meaning they have pressure typically 1 psi at the most (usually). The higher pressure from the 1760 pump can overpower the needle valve in the aftermarket carb and then fuel just shoot out of the vent. Remember, also, that the carb (and to an extent the pump) sit RIGHT over the top of the muffler. The last thing you want is fuel dumping out of the system on top of a nice hot muffler. I've seen many a T1760 burn to the ground because of this, hence why I always suggest OEM parts ONLY.

So, Update, I got her all back together, man, ran and cut better than ever before, the old fuel pump had to be going out. Want to know how I know? The fuel line going from the pump to the carb was on, but the clamp was not quite on the whole way, only partly over the bump, I discovered this when she shut off right near the end of cutting, and caught fire. That was exciting, needless to say I've got a few more parts to replace now, melted the plastic shroud and air filter housing down, so she's now going in the garage to be a winter project. She was leaking oil too, so I figure I'll two birds one stone it, and just fix everything all at once. In the meantime I snagged a Troy Built 42 inch 17.5 hp to get me through the rest of this season. The only thing I really miss with this Kubota is a bagger, and I can't seem to find one that fits, so once I fix her up this winter she might get sold so I can get the 54" cut craftsman with the Kholher 26 or 24 hp motor with the bagger. I had that machine before this one, but the power steering kept frying, so I won't be getting one with power steering if I go that route.

Just out of curiosity, if anyone is still reading, do you know of any baggers that work with the 1760, or would I need to go to a newer model of Kubota for that?

Kubota made a bagger for them. Pain in the neck, I do not advise using them. They had a blower mounted to the discharge side, IIRC, and the blower adds weight which helped the RH side of the deck dig into the grass especially on LH turns. On a 3 blade deck, the only way the baggers will actually bag worth a flip is by using a blower, which adds significant cost, complexity, weight, and NOISE (usually).
