Kubota KH8 - Older Super Mini

Hi all,

Total newbie here, go easy. Bought a property that needs lots of yard work, but small and fairly cramped, so mini excavator is only real option. Plan is to use it for a year or two to dig some ditches, clear rubble etc then sell it on.

Seller is local, private, he says it only has 700 hrs, which really peaked my interest. He says he's had it for 5 or 6 years with little use. Asking $9,700 (CDN).

I've looked around and tried to search the forum, but haven't found much. Saw one of these sold a few years ago in Kansas for about $8,000 with over 2,000 hours, so this seems reasonable, but would appreciate insight.

Will be going to look at it soon. Is there anything in particular that would be a give away for future problems?

Only thing I can tell you is that its somewhere in the 1977 range, uses a D850 engine (common enough motor) and it is a grey market unit.
What that means is any replacement/repair parts are going to be tough to find as the dealers will not have info on it and will not either stock or sell you the parts.

If it's in great shape then it wouldn't be much of a worry, but if one part , like a drive motor, goes out you might be dead in the water.
