I found the yellow sensor wire broken at the ring terminal behind the temperature gauge, I had to remove the steering wheel and two molex connections to gain access to the back of the temperature gauge

This had been driving me nuts as I knew the overtemp sensor was working and confirmed by shorting the sensor back by the aft water line and the horn sounded.
But I like to know what is going on with the temperature and not rely on a over temp horn

Sincerely hope this helps someone in the future
