I have a Kubota Excavator, if i swing the boom left or right the cab will move in the same direction It won't swing the boom alone. Any idea what it can be?

Thanks

This is normal operation from what I have experienced with my mini ex. I moved to the mini ex from a tractor backhoe.

With an excavator, you only set the boom position at an angle for what you are doing. The main movement is with the movement of the cab or seat, if there is not cab. This makes sense when you think about it.

You can swing the bucket anywhere you want to, 360 degrees around. Much better than a normal backhoe.

So......what you are experiencing is normal. You likely have a method to move the boom to a different angle. On mine it is a foot pedal.

Enjoy the excavator. It is SO MUCH better for digging than a standard backhoe, once you learn to appreciate the differences.

Edit: I too had the same question/concern when I started using the mini ex...understand fully...

Henro is correct. I am not sure how you have your controls setup, most excavators have the option to switch between ISO and SAE. SAE are what we usually call Deere or backhoe controls.

The boom swing is usually on a foot pedal in Kubotas I believe. Mine is on the ground to the right of the track movement controls. You should ONLY use boom swing if you are in tight quarters and need to dig close to a structure. The rest of the time swing the house (ie the operator platform)!

not all of them had foot pedal boom swing. Those that did, the boom only swings just a little bit. It really isn't used all that much on those that do have that function.

On most all excavators, the entire cabin assembly swings with the boom-this allows you (the operator) to stay stationary in the operator's station while you excavate; allowing much better visibility among other things. Also a LOT more comfortable than a tractor/backhoe, on those you're constantly swinging the hoe around, and at the same time you're moving your head up/down/left/right. After a couple hours of that, you're worn out. You can run an excavator all day long, fairly comfortably. Well not me, I can't sit still that long.
