Hello Folks,

I have just purchased a 1988 Kubota B4200 to replace a 1978 Turf Trac with a tiller and mower etc. I am selling the Turf Trac without the tiller as I want to use it with the Kubota. The Kubota has a six spline 1 3/8" x 2 1/2"male PTO shaft offering power at the rear. The tiller has a 3/4" x 3/4" female drive shaft. Any ideas how I can join the two?

Also, the Kubota's PTO driveshaft has a plastic sleeve on it which appears fixed and seems to prevent its use. I do know that the PTO has never been used and wonder if this is some kind of protective cover. The plastic is pretty heavy. Do you know what purpose this serves?

Any comments will be most appreciated. Thanks! Edmund

If I understand correctly you have a pto drive shaft that origionally went with the tiller. The end of the pto shaft that needs to connect to the tractor has a 3/4 x 3/4 square female opening. If that is the case then I would purchase a pto adaptor from something like Tractor Supply Company and mill the end to a 3/4" square. I have a milling machine and this would not be a complicated job. Even if you had to pay a machine shop, I do not think it would cost very much.
I think you will find the plastic cover comes right off the pto stub on your tractor.

Thanks Kubota Sam ;) My Tractor supplier came through with a $100 fix and now I'm just seeing if the rpms of the PTOs are similar. AND I'm learning a PTO tiller is worth about $1-1.4k stand alone. At this point someon'es gonna get that tractor for $100 and share the tiller with me. Sounds like a deal.
