I can add a policy on my homeowners to cover the operation of my tractor. I will check on the price, I want to say $100 something per year for a $25,000 machine.

You will find many post on this here and other forums. First you will not likely find better coverage than KTAC's. You also not likely to find any higher price. First after that property insurance varies from state to state so info from one state often means little other than general terms. Most likely you will find the deductible higher than KTAC and I understand their coverage remains at the sales price of the equipment. Now all that being said I passed on the KTAC coverage and went with coverage that has a 1,000 deductible for felt the premium difference more than made up for the deductible difference. I also feel the odds of a total or major loss is small so not worried about not holding the full purchase price of the tractor.
What ever coverage you decide on be sure it protects your true needs: is it covered off your property, theft, damage you cause, liability are different coverages to consider.

Mine is insured under my standard homeowners policy for theft and loss from damage inside the garage from say fire. No "collision" though if I run it off a cliff that's on me.

Mine is covered under my homeowners.... with a $3K deductible... no addt’l premium whatsoever. That’s good enough for me.... I only buy insurance for the devastating event... not the little ones. $3K won’t bankrupt me and I‘ve got better places to spend what would otherwise be a standalone $400 tractor policy. Ask your homeowners agent about it.
