Injector / head help D782 ZD21?

Injector question. Original D782 head, injector and cup style spacer thing in first pic. That head is cracked. My local machine shop has the head in the second pic. The injector pocket is smaller than my original head but it looks like my injectors will fit perfectly without the cup spacer, and the cylinder side of the injector pockets look identical. It almost looks like the cup spacer is just there to downsize adapt that injector to a head with the bigger nozzle hole. Actually the heads appear to be otherwise completely identical. Does anyone know if i can use the head in 2nd pic (cup spacers won't fit in that one) with my original injectors?

The cup helps remove heat from the injector tip.

I have said many times that all D782's are not all identical and neither are all other engines even though the model designation might be the same (D662, V1505, etc)--there are differences that people don't understand, and even I don't know them all.

I have no input on whether or not you can use the "new" head without the cups. What engine did the "new" head come off of?
