I need some help selecting a hydraulic top link for my L3301. I have two options from a local distributor, and I was wondering what you all thought. The only difference I see is the Base to Ball Center Length. One is 3.5" and the other is 7.563". The compressed length is also different. One is 20" and the other is 24.063". What are the advantages/disadvantages of either? My main concern is hitting the back of the tractor with my quick hitch when it is compressed as I am very close now with my manual turn top link.

Option 1
All ports .563"-18 ORB w/ two adapters .563"-18 ORBM X .250" NPTM 90 swivel.
Barrel Length: 12.438"
Base End Ball Inside Dia: .750"
Base End Ball Width: 1.375"
Base To Ball Center Lngth: 3.500"
Compressed Length: 20"
PSI: 1450.377
Replaces: Gannon 13-650
Rod End Ball Inside Diame: .750"
Rod End Ball Width: 1.750"
Stroke: 8"
Working Pressure: 1450 lbs

Option 2
All ports .563"-18 ORB w/ two adapters .563"-18 ORBM X .250" NPTM 90 swivel.
Barrel Length: 12.438"
Base End Ball Inside Dia: .750"
Base End Ball Width: 1.375"
Base To Ball Center Lngth: 7.563"
Compressed Length: 24.063"

Others will have more thoughts but for me your choice is largely dictated buy the implement you intend to pull and the geometry of your 3 pt hitch.

The compressed length is the significant change. Compressed Length: 20" & Compressed Length: 24.063"

When your implement is attached and sitting at the desired operating angle, you want your top link to be able to compress and extend as your need for an angle adjustment happens.

If when you start your top link is fully compressed, you can never change the operating angle in one direction.

As a starting point in your decision, put the lower lift arms in a horizontal position and then use a level placed vertically aligned with the ball on the end of a lift arm. At the height of the top link attachment to the tractor measure the horizontal distance out to your vertical level.

If this measurement is 21" a top link with a compressed length of 24" is not suitable.

I was reading the specs, isn't it that 4.63" difference in several places and in the overall length of the 2 both closed and extended? How does that extended number compare to the top link you have now?
I don't have one of these but know my L2501 came with a top link for a different model I think it was a B2601 or something like that and it was several inches shorter. Went back to the dealer and exchanged for the right one. Just wonder if that is part of these two models.

Last year I purchased a hydraulic toplink for my L3901, this will be the same for your L3301, here is what I purchased, it worked out great and was not expensive.

Hope this helps.
