hydraulic issue

I had my first chance to use my new BX2370 with the 5450 snow blower. All was working fine last month when I parked it but today when i pushed the lever up to raise the blower it would not go. I was able to get plenty of down pressure when I pressed downward and wound up lifting the front wheels. I flipped the hydraulic lines (the two outer ones) and things worked in reverse but I was able to lift when I pressed the lever down and raise when I pressed up. Any thoughts as to what may be going on?

Your write up left me confused. You should be pushing the joystick forward to lower the blower, and all the way forward puts it into float. When you pull it back it should raise the blower. One possibility is my blower was frozen to the floor the other day. It would not raise until I rocked the tractor back and forth to break it loose from the ice.

Thanks Larry. I think it was operator error but it sounds like I have the reverse operation. When I push the lever forward past the detent, the blower does drop. In order to raise it, I have to move the lever slowly from its normal position forward before I hit the detent. Then the blower rises off the ground. I was pushing it quickly past the detent upward and the blower never rose. Does that sound like the operation on your machine?

The machine is new so I am guessing nothing is broken. What is the temperature there? Is it possible moisture has gotten into the valve mechanism and frozen. This is at best a shot in the dark but a blow dryer might heat it up enough to free it up.

Yes, it is new. I think it works now except it seems to work backwards from Larry's. By switching the hydraulic lines I can cause it to operate the way Larry described. The question now is, should the blower lower when pressing the lever forward or raise. Mine raises when I push the lever forward.

No.
I think you have the connections reversed. When you push the lever forward not to the detent the blower should go down and even lift the front of the tractor. You should be raising the blower by pulling back on the lever. The float position will work even with the connections reversed.

Appreciate the response. You're probably right. If I raise the blower before hitting the detent by pushing forward, if I go past the detent the blower will drop hard so it makes sense to revers the hydraulic lines.

My BX2370 came with the caps for the connectors on the tractor and fel color coded for the correct connection. The color code for the snow blower was different so there are color coded tags in addition to the color coded caps on the tractor. The color coded tags match the color coding of the snowblower connectors. I don't know what if anything your tractor has for identifying the connections. Maybe the caps and tags were provided by my dealer?

I had to assemble it all myself from the quick hitch to the blower. It all came on a large pallet that the dealer slid into my garage. The instructions basically said to attach the appropriate color rings to the hydraulic lines. I think I'm all set on this. Just saw a video that showed pushing the lever forward lowers the blower. Mine is doing the opposite so I need to reverse the lines.
