I have a L345DT 4x4 with FEL and cab. I fill the tank with diesel fuel that I buy at my local coop in 6 gallon plastic jerry cans. I had a problem with crap such as chaff from mowing and other organic material getting into the fuel tank. It caused the tractor to sputter and stall. I solved that problem with a good cleaning of the entire fuel system and new filters.

My question is how do I keep this crap from getting into the diesel tank again? I am sure that the plastic cans get stuff in them from just sitting around. Insects, leaves, dirt, etc. I try to keep all holes on the diesel can sealed, but that can be a tough job. Is there some kind of strainer that I can pour the diesel through from the plastic jerry cans into the fill spout on the tank. I have tried funnels with brass screens on them, but that does not do the job. Probably not fine enough of a screen to catch the small stuff. I do a lot of mowing with this tractor on my farm and the fine chaff is just every where after a day of mowing.

I hope I explained what I am looking for in this thread. Some type of strainer/filter to pour the diesel through before it goes into the fuel tank to keep the crap out of the fuel system.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

For $20 - Mr. Funnel is cheap insurance for cleaner fuel. :D:)

Been using one for the last two years, have not had any problems with fuel in either machine.
