On a newer LX2610 the owners manual shows a dipstick without the 2 holes like the real on has. IT shows the proper height of the oil as being the the middle of 2 lines on the stick. Do you think it would be the same or up to at least the 2nd hole like Ford trucks for example? Maybe in Japan they do not have the holes on the dipstick?

Can you take a very clear picture of your dipstick? There should some type of indication of proper fill points.

Check the oil level with the dipstick inserted all the way - wiping it first, of course. Anywhere between the two dots is fine. Mine usually runs near the top dot.

I run mine near the top. I figured the hole wouldn't be there if it wasn't OK to have oil that high.

I think you will find with most dipsticks that the amount of oil between the high and low marks, whether is be just hash marks and/or holes is not that much oil.

If you own a used tractor .... just confirm that the Part Number stamped on your dipsitck (oil gauge rod) is the proper PN for your model. I’ve twice observed used equipment with incorrect dipsticks.... one a “generic” aftermarket and one from an unknown source.

Mine was new 45 hr now. Got some good info here, I guess for now will leave it alone and check it in a few weeks.
