I agree with the cold start to full throttle view. I'm not a big fan.
Not to turn this into an oil debate (lol!!) , but what oil viscosity do you use? I talked to Generac and they said either 5w30 or their 5w20 synthetic. Supposedly, their 5w20 is suitable for summer and makes for easier cold starts. Just throwing it out there, as it might help you.
I went out to check as I can’t remember stuff like that, Ive used Mobile 1 5w30 from the first day. We don’t have nearly the number of power failures since they ran new line underground up the county road. They were very frequent when the lines ran overhead. Lots of critters and downed trees and branches were the cause.

We are home almost all the time and it only takes a minutes if I had to start it manually during the coldest times of the winter if we had a power failure.
