Try placing your right foot on the treadle pedal and rock it back and forth (moving the machine slightly forward, then slightly reversed) while placing the heel of your left foot of the 4wd lever forcing it down. You should reach a point where there is no binding on the shift collar and it should release into 2wd.
When you have it in 2wd on a flat surface, how easy does it shift between 2WD and 4WD without moving the machine? If it's still problematic, then you got more going on beside a lag-lead match.

What size and type tiers to you have on the front and rear? See attached for what Kubota would have available from the factory.

Thank you. That looks like great information.

I am having some weird symptoms at the tail end of what is probably the flu, so I will not be fooling with the tractor until at least tomorrow. At least my parts arrived.

What you think might be the flu may also be covid. It's going around. I was told it's a different strain then all the commotion was about a few years back. Dr. says it only last 4 days. Use to be they prescribed Paxlovid. Not now. They tell you to go home, drink a lot of fluids and rest. So if it's that simple one doesn't really need to even get a covid test!!

This one isn't covid. Our son managed to find us something else. I think the flu got around his vaccination. My wife and I were just about to get shots when he got sick and passed it to us.

It's not much of a flu, thank God.

I'm glad to hear covid is getting more mild. For us, it's no more unpleasant than a cold, but it's nice to hear good news for other people. A buddy of mine was hospitalized once.

I should add that we already had our delightful yearly visit from the covid fairy.

If you have that “small lever” it looks like you could easily loop something around it to help pull it up. Perhaps a rope or endless loop will work to help you get it out of gear?

That sounds like a great way put it IN gear, but I have to push it down to get it out. I am reluctant to step on it, and I only have one left foot anyway.

The manual posted above say ON is DOWN and OFF is UP. See below.

Is yours reversed to that manual? If so the use a forked stick to push it down since you have trouble with reaching it.

It's a different model with a different manual, and the directions are reversed.

It turned out the problem with the loader was a defective assembly between the seat and steering wheel. I thought the loader extended farther down than it did. When I put the bucket back on, the loader lifted the front end just fine.

I really need to replace that defective assembly.

I hope this helps other people: lifting the front wheels did no good at all, but when I turned them all the way to one side, I had no problem shifting out of FWD.

All I can tell you is that it appears to be an American, not Japanese, part.
