I just got back from the property. I bought an auger last year, and am ready to start doing some fencing. I have spent the last 4 hours and can't seem to get the damn PTO attached. Is it possible to do this alone? the PTO drive shaft also doesn't extend as easily as the one on my bushhog. I tried lubricating it but no help, any recommendation?

Is there a technique hooking up one of these?

If it's the kind that has collar that sides back, it has 3 balls that tend to get stuck, first spray the inside with something like PB Blaster to break up the rust, and if the shaft is also sticking too hard use the PB on that too.
