I have a 4 year old BX23S with only 40 hours on her and always stored under cover. I used uit yesterday for plugging about 5 acres of my lawn. When I got done shut her off, I cam back later and restarted went to move the hand accelerator lever and heard some squealing like a fan belt and the RPMs did not go up like usual. Does the fan belt just need to be tightened?

I have attached page from WSM dealing with the fan belt.

Had to split page in two to not exceed allowable size.

Check belt tension and also depth the belt is riding in the pulley groove.

If all appears OK, then slacken off belt and make certain the Alternator and water pump turn freely.

Unless there is an unusual load from a seizing bearing in the alternator or water pump there is no reason the engine did not speed up in spite of the noisy belt.

When I took mine in for the 50hr oil changes, they tightened up the lever assembly... maybe yours needs a look at ?
