My MX6000 has a square drive plug that needs to be removed before greasing the zerk fitting at the front axle pivot point.

What does the bearing sleeve look like on the inside for tractors that have the zerk/vent arrangement? Is there a grease channel or other groove that runs between the zerk and the vent hole? Adding the zerk and vent may be a good mod for my tractor front axle.

If I was me or anybody else greasing ur front axle center pivot. I’d lift the front end so the axle actually hangs with a floor jack etc. Then grease it. Other wise ur really only greasing the bottom part of the pivot. All the weight is on the top and the grease has a hard time getting to the top. It will squeeze out the bottom. path of lease resistance. Just my years of observation. Just what I do.

Thanks Fido. Agreed it is good do take the weight off the pivots when greasing. The issue for the M4500DT is that there is no way to grease it without removing the axle. There are no zerk fittings either at front or rear pivot. So I'm interested in how the zerk+vent works, as in is there a grease channel somewhere, or does the MX6000 system simply rely on the clearances in the bearings.

The front of those axle-brackets have a lock-nut (130) and threaded-pivot/bolt (110) which is adjustable to take up “slack” from the wear-point. That adjustment-bolt should be removable… if you want to allow an “escape” path for excess grease. (I’m presuming that the disc (030) will allow grease to slip-by.)

@GeoHorn thanks. Thinking about removing the front and rear brackets and drilling them for zerk + vent plug.
