I had a grease fitting on my 2501 I suspected wasted taking grease. I bought some 10mm zerks at TS and tried to swap it out. I got it about 1/2 way in and it came out. Now I can't get the old one in or a new one. What size zerks are on a 2501? I also want to get a 4-way zerk tool and cannot find a metric one. Do they make metric Zerk tools?

Where is the zerk? I'm pretty sure that the tractor uses metric, but the loader uses SAE. IIRC, the L2501 took 8mm on the tractor.

This zerk is underneath the tractor. One over from the zerk where you have to take the plug out before you grease, on the drive line.

Is there a metric 4-way grease zerk tool? All I find are SAE. Are some of the SAE equivalent to metric.

Not that I'm aware of, but metric taps are pretty easy and affordable to come by.

One other thing you need to be aware of is whether the zerk is a tapered thread or standard thread.

What few I've needed over the years I've bought at my local Kubota dealer. Yeah, they're expensive but it makes my life that much easier. And at my age that's all that counts.

I guess it goes without saying that you need to cut new threads into the one zerk hole. If you don't have a tap and die kit you can get one from Harbor Freight starting at $20-ish and up
