GL301 How to fly this thing?

Hi there,

I recently (well last year actually) bought a grey market GL301 down here in Tasmania, Australia, and I'm trying to get my head around the controls...particularly the linkage. The machine has an after market 4 in 1 bucket, which is all I've been using so far, as I've still got my old Inter 384 for slashing, etc, so haven't needed to use the Kubota for anything other than digging and loading.

However, the wife thinks two tractors on 25 acres is extravagant...so the Inters gotta go! Which means I need to work out the 301 controls.

The thing that has me stumped is the Mix Control Auto box...with its Japanese lettering. I just cant seem to make heads or tails of how all the little dials and switches relate to the hydraulics.

I have a manual (in Japanese of course, obtained by graft and corruption from Kubota in Japan), and can take photo's of the machine as required. My step brother also speaks and reads fluent Japanese, but struggles with what he describes as the hybrid Techno/Jap/English language of the manual.

This is a quantum leap forward for me from the 1970's technology of the old International, so any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Jonathan

Here are some shots of the various control systems. First is the Mix Control Auto cover and the linkage draught control. Next is inside the MCA, with its various bells and whistles! No idea how any of this works.

The third photo is obviously the high/low ratio (top or left hand lever), but what does the lower or right hand one do?

Last lot for now. On the lower right in the first shot is a three way lever, which seems to be a 2wd/4wd control, although the third position is a mystery. Flow control dial is in the center and DA, I think, is something to do with automatic disc brakes...whatever that means.

In photo 2 there is a small lever with white Japanese writing on it next to the throttle - it seems to be somehow associated with the linkage adjustment.

The last shot shows a strange square switch which lights briefly up on ignition.

Any ideas?

The first two pictures look like the Monroematic hitch control system. The third may be the control levers for your rear hydraulics.
