luckily last weekend we only got sleet and a little freezing rain,, this weekend they are calling for snow,, did a quick little fab and mounted a strip on the buckets edge, I think my neighbors will be surprised when I start clearing driveways,, one or two of them shouldn't be out shoveling..

HDPE? I've been using a strip of ¾" HDPE - with the edge beveled - for the past four years. I put it on around October and remove it About April. Used mostly on asphalt, it shows minimal wear.

Ya, I'll bet you'll be surprised at how quickly the polyurethane wears out.

When I was a kid, Dad had a line on used "grader blades". He must have gotten these from county maintenance for scrap price. We got about 50 of them. They were hardened steel, 8 feet long, 3-4" wide, 5/8" thick, with a bolt hole in them every 8 inches or so. We set them on end in concrete for fence posts around the feedlot, and bolted cattle panels to them. We also used a few of them to replace the worn out edges on our blades and buckets.

In Iowa, where all the secondary roads are gravel, the county must have used up a LOT of grader blades...

Polyurethane comes in all different levels of hardness.

Polyurethane is generally considered the best plastic for a plow blade cutting edge, offering superior durability, flexibility, and abrasion resistance compared to alternatives like UHMW or HDPE. It is highly effective for protecting delicate surfaces like pavers, stamped concrete, and asphalt, while resisting damage from obstructions.
