gearbox housing crack!

I found my leak. The gearbox housing has a hairline crack (~3/4" long) directly above the hydraulic fluid strainer and fluid is seeping out. Has anyone dealt with cracks in the transmission case? Can they be repaired or am i looking at a new transmission housing.

Thanks for replying Vic. I am excited reading your post, because that was my plan to the letter. It definately looks like a stress fracture. I will keep you posted.
