My G5200H battery recently went bad. The previous owner had installed an oversized 151 battery, which was about the tallest battery that would fit in the stock location. But installing a larger battery can also contribute to overheating due to it's close proximity to the radiator. I wanted to relocate the battery to the rear of the tractor, solving the the airflow restriction, allowing a larger battery, and adding some needed weight over the rear wheels.

The brackets and tray were fabbed from some scrap 1" angle iron I bought sometime ago. In fact, the braced angles were already tack welded together; I just needed to cut them to size and strengthen the welds. I added some cross-bracing to reduce the tendency to twist if I happened to back into anything. Added the diamond plate shield to protect the battery for the same reason, again just another piece of leftover material from another project. I love it when a project can be done with little to no purchase of new materials!

Next mod will be a receiver hitch to allow towing versatility and extend it aft a bit.

Looks clean! (y)

How's access for maintenance?
Easy enough. Terminals are wide open, the vents can be opened after loosening the lashing strap I used as a hold-down. I purposely raised it as high as possible to still allow access to the hitch.
