Hi Folks,
Wifey hit the dog chain when mowing a couple of weeks ago, stalling the mower deck before the engine bogged and died. The incident flat-spotted the mower drive belt, and wrecked the PTO drive belts:
These were Kubota belts and I priced them out, coming to think that they were priced quite high. So, I did some research, and bought these:
The procedure to change these belts is pretty simple.
1. Drive front wheels partway up a set of ramps.
2. Fold air cleaner back out of the way to gain access from the top.
3. Remove belt retainer near the lower pulley with a 13mm socket:
4. Remove tensioner springs from PTO engagement assembly. I used a crowbar, prying from the RF tire to create slack:
That's the crowbar coming in from the lower edge of the image.
Belts slipped right on after that:
Reassemble, and go. I am very satisfied with the fit of the 5L340 belts. They were still spendy, $76 for the pair. Counter dweeb told me that rubber has gotten very expensive.
Time to opportunistically scarf up some goodies for the future...
While I'm at it, here's my Christmas present from last year:
Son is a metal worker, and banged out my mangled bumper cover for me.
