how bad is it? if its not to bad I heard you can plug it real good, fill it with the coldest water you can get and heat up the tank, the water will expand and pop out your tank. do not heat it to much tho, think of the old steam ships , trains etc blowing up back in the day. you don't want to recreate that.

it' not to bad. I tried to heat the tank in the hot sun then tied a small rope around the fuel cap and pull up on it to pop it back up. It did not work. I have had someone suggest I put very hot water in it and then try to pop it up. I am afraid that I might have to take the tank out to do that and I would hope there would be another way!!!!!!!!

Did the tank collapse because the breather was blocked which would cause a vacuum or the straps were too tight or?
When a tank changes shape there are points of stress at the places where it has bent the most and even if the tank is for the want of a better word"blown up" the stresses will probably remain and will go back to the bent state when pressure is removed.I have managed to get a plastic tank to shape by applying a hot air gun to the points of stress, gently inflating with LOW air pressure then letting it cool with the pressure still applied.
Caution is required as INFLATING WITH AIR IS NOT WITHOUT RISK!!!!!

I removed the hood and let the hot sun shine directly on the tank for about 2 hrs. I took my air compressor, wrapped the hose with some rags, took off the cap and stuck it in and put air to the tank and it popped right out!!!!!!

I'm not sure what caused the tank to collapse, but I cleaned the fuel cap vent holes so if that was it I'm hoping it will not happen again!!!!
