OK I know this has been gone over a ton of times,, but I really need to know for long term storage,,, Talking to a bud, his Dad a horse trader from way back got a deal on fuel,, 2.99 a gal and around here that is unheard of,, Anyways the old boy said if I wanted some he would include it in the order,,, I would like about 100 gal but I don't use all that much in a year, so is there any thing that will keep shyt from growing in the tanks and fresh enough to use say this time next year,,, I need answers kids this deal wont last long

There's plenty of products geared towards the marine market. I think a alge preventer might be all you need. If you have a pump circulating the fuel every so often wouldn't hurt. Heating oil routinely sits in a tank all summer.

Gas or diesle?

Soltron works good for both gas and diesel

Thanks guys as of right now there are 2 blue 55 gallon drums sitting in the barn full of diesel fuel.. I asked the guy that delivered it to my buds fathers place about what he thought and he said that they use PS diesel additive for places that store for a long time like in township supply's and where they have emergency generators. I picked up a bottle and dumped it in,, lord I hope I just didn't waste 310 bucks

keeping the containers as air tight as possible and in a temperature stable environment will go a long way in keeping it fresh.

temp swings and air circulation will invite moisture, which will condense and sweat and then pool. this is a big killer in storage tanks that aren't used regularly, gas and diesel.

I run into this a lot with farmers and smaller businesses that buy bulk fuel for their operations, they also tend to not have filters which makes things worse for the equipment.

For long term storage of diesel fuel, I'd use this or equivelent.

Thanks guys, and today I got a shock,, diesel jumped 30 cents since last Friday $4.19 and the off road went to $3.69,, maybe I made a good deal on the fuel after all
