The only way to check them is w/ a "pop tester" & most home owners dont have 1..
U could take them to a fuel shop & have them do it.. BUT MOST will charge u just to tell u that they're bad..
DO NOT run anything across the "face/bottom" of it with the nozzle/tip still in it..
That little "tip" sticking out of it HAS TO go up inorder for it to spray properly.. IF u run it across a wire wheel, u just destroyed it..
The tips are easily replaced if u have a torque wrench..
U can unscrew the nozzle nut.. keep the guts intact inside the body.. get the # off the tip itself & start googling.. you'll find a price that suites your pockets.. replace the tip & retorque the noz. nut to 50 Ft Lbs.
Handle them gently, u dont wanna bump the end that sticking out..
I hope this helps.. Good luck.
The only problem your going to have is finding the "aluminum" return gaskets & the bottom copper gaskets.
But if u look hard enough you'll find them..
